The Chief Operating Officer will be in charge of directing Pacmed to make sure we achieve our objectives effectively and efficiently. They will lead the Management Team and directly manage its current (and future) members, as well as the company’s support functions (Legal, QARA, Finance, and HR).

COO responsibilities include:

  • Preparing and implementing business plans to facilitate achievement

  • Setting and executing the company’s day-to-day strategies

  • Leading the organization from pre-product market fit to scale

Job brief

We are looking for an experienced COO to control and oversee all business operations and the team.

In this role, you will work closely with our CEO and Co-Founder, who is primarily focused on long-term strategy, fundraising and doing business development for new strategic opportunities. The COO will manage the day-to-day operations of the company and support fundraising efforts and managing current shareholders with the CEO. Together with the CEO, you are responsible for the overall success of the business.

The ideal candidate is a leader able to steer Pacmed to the most impactful direction while also implementing its vision, mission and long-term goals. We’re looking for someone with experience in leading a startup in the tech and healthcare space from pre-product market fit to scale. The goal is to ensure the company is constantly moving towards fulfilling its short-term and long-term objectives, while providing a great place to work for the team, and balancing both profitability and long-term positive impact on the healthcare sector.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the company’s business strategies, in line with the CEO’s long-term strategy based on the market developments

  • Prepare and implement business plans to facilitate achievement by planning cost-effective operations and market development activities

  • Lead the Management Team and delegate responsibilities

  • Making sound strategic decisions based on market signals, product discovery, and operations while managing investor expectations and agreements

  • Develop the team and organization in line with the strategic objectives, ensuring its operations match goals set now and in the future

  • Oversee the company’s financial performance and investment needs

  • Ensure company policies, quality and legal guidelines are communicated, implemented and followed at all times

  • Analyze problematic situations and occurrences and provide solutions to ensure company survival and growth


Mandate

  • Decision-making within the scope of investor/board agreements, including financial decisions, hiring and firing.



Job requirements

Requirements and skills

  • Passionate about improving the quality of healthcare

  • Extensive experience in and understanding of the healthcare industry, or industry with similar characteristics and complexity

  • A track record showing willingness and ability to lead a company towards reaching maximum societal value add over short-term profit creation

  • 10+ years of experience leading and managing teams

  • 5+ years experience in an operational leadership role in a startup

  • Previously been end responsible for an organization’s financial performance with solid financial acumen to make business decisions

  • Willingness to commit for the longer term and ready for tackling the challenges that come with validating and scaling an innovative proposition
